Description

Australian Aboriginal Art Brolga Dreaming Green by Nambooka Cotton Quilting Fabric is designed by Nambooka for M & S Textiles. This fabric is 100% cotton and 44 inches (112cm) wide. Colours include gold metallic on a green background.Brolga is a common wetland bird belonging to the crane family in Australia. It is also known as the Australian Crane. In the Aboriginal Dreamtime, many people refer Brolga to a beautiful young lady who had extraordinary dancing skills. People from various lands came just to see her dance like the wind. Elders from various tribes and communities gathered to watch and also to discuss other communal matters. Months later, an evil spirit spied Brolga and spun her away while she was practising her dance. Family and friends of Brolga looked everywhere to find her until she was found on a distant plain and then the evil spirit vanished into the sky taking Brolga away. Soon after this, a beautiful bird appeared, stretching its wings and making moved that resembled Brolga. This made the people realise that Brolga's spirit escaped from the evilspirit and had turned into a bird. Nambooka, alsoknown as Bea Edwards, is a descendantfrom the Pyemmairrener clan of Tasmania. She lives in Melbourne Australia. Many of her creations are in public galleries and private collections.
